Silver Kintsugi cup, stoneware & wood ash glazes

70.00

Dimensions: 4cm H x 5.5cm W

The small, unique cup is the result of a collaboration between myself and my friend Réal (Yūekina Kintsugi), a local Kintsugi artist.

This cup was thrown, trimmed and shaped by my hands before being glazed in a unique iron wood ash glaze. It was then fired for around 24 hours in my gas kiln.

When the piece broke, it was given to Réal for repair. Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese art that highlights the beauty of imperfection by repairing broken pieces to give them a second life and deeper meaning. This unique piece was repaired with silver following the traditional methods of Japanese Kintsugi. As a potter, I’m lucky to have such a wonderful artist nearby and our collaborations give rise to truly unique pieces of art.

All of my pots are food safe. Please care for this unique piece by hand washing it. No microwave or dishwasher.
