Small stoneware vase, Shino glazes & wood ash

A small hand-thrown and trimmed vase.

The vase’s shape and texture was created with my fingers and tools during the throwing process to create an organic, natural looking shape inspired by nature. This piece was then decorated with my Shino glazes and wood ash before being reduction-fired for around 24 hours in my gas kiln.

Unlike mass produced ceramics, each of my pieces is a unique hand-made object whose finish is greatly influenced by the how the kiln fire impacts the glaze. As a result, no two pieces are alike and they will never be reproduced exactly as is.
